There is a much improved version of rlwrap available. The version that is in Gentoo is heavily outdated and has some serious bugs that make it impossible to use with, say, mzscheme. Version 0.29 works fine with MzScheme, 0.30 is the current version.
I created my own overlay, copied the rlwrap-0.29.ebuild to rlwarp-0.30.ebuild without big changes (masked all arches other than amd64) and it downloaded and seems to be running properly - also with MzScheme.
do you mean that you copied the 0.24 ebuild?
I copied the file ``rlwrap-0.24.ebuild`` into my own overlay as ``rlwrap-0.30.ebuild`` for testing purposes.
I don't think that the common lisp-people are the right group to handle it, as mzscheme is just an example of an application that does not work with the portage's rlwrap. I suspect that there are numerous other applications which are not working properly with 0.24 as well, no matter whether they are Lisp-related.
rlwrap 0.24 in portage seems to be unusable for several applications, So I think we should install rlwrap 0.30 into portage early. There is no fixes that relates to ebuild. As a previous comment says, we can just copy rlwrap 0.24 to rlwrap 0.30. It works fine for me.
