1.4.0.90 has a hard hang triggerable by alt-tabbing. This has been reported and fixed upstream. I've extracted the patch, and tested it, and it works here. I'll attach it.
Created attachment 142317 [details, diff] Fix for the alt-tab hang from upstream
Can this bug also be triggered with pressing other keys than Alt+Tab? I have a similar behaviour when pressing Xf86AudioPrev/Xf86AudioNext for a bit longer, so Amarok skips over several songs. I verified that X goes to 100% CPU usage, while all output/input blocks.
Yes. I get it by using ctrl-arrow, which is bound to switching desktops for me.
Can we have this patch applied? Here is a link to check that it was applied upstream: http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=xorg/xserver.git;a=commitdiff;h=50e80c39870adfdc84fdbc00dddf1362117ad443;hp=d0308b64655360517d83e07e866d103c3f2b389d
I haven't gotten around to pending xorg patches in a while, sorry about that. If anyone would like to put together a potential revbump based on bugs assigned to x11@ with Keywords: Inclusion, that would help a lot.
This can be fixed by updating to the current git of 1.4-branch.
Fixed in xorg-server-1.4.0.90-r4, which I expect to rekeyword as soon as a few last patches find their way in.
