When emerging kmplayer, mplayer should automatically be emerged also as a dependency - but that doesn't happen. So at a first try after emerging kmplayer and starting kmplayer an error message is shown that says mplayer is missing. After emerging mplayer everything is fine. Reproducible: Always
kmplayer depends on mplayer only if you have the "mplayer" useflag set. Thise makes sense as kmplayer is also a frontend for other mediaplayers (xine, cairo) The ebuild will warn you if you have none of the three installed.
