As far as I know, this was never an official mirror. It's not listed on our mirrors page, at any rate: http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors.xml
How is it possible that portage automatically tries to download from that mirror? Please, take a look at it because it waits nearly forever just to write out "connection timeout" and this wastes my time... :-( Thanks... Radek
OK, just found it... the /usr/portage/profiles/thirdpartymirrors needs to get updated since it contains the ftp.dale.ro address...
re-opening and re-assigning to bug-wranglers. I've no idea who takes care of /usr/portage/profiles/thirdpartymirrors, but that file does need to be updated.

kurt: no one 'takes care of' the thirdpartymirrors, people just update it as they go in your case, you're the mirror admin, so you should probably manage the gentoo entry
