Description Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2008-01-23 09:01:14 UTC
Yesterday I sniffed the network stream of my wlan card and saw that the DHCP package includes my hostname although I forbid that :-(

Here's the config file:

n22 ~ # cat /etc/conf.d/net
# /etc/conf.d/net
#

#       LAN
# dhcp, static ip for local services like apache, ...
#
config_eth0=(
        "dhcp"
        "192.168.0.254/24"
        )
dhcp_eth0="nontp nosendhost"
#dhcpcd_eth0="-L -t 10"

#       DSL at home
#
config_ppp0=( "ppp" )
link_ppp0=( "eth0" )
plugins_ppp0=( "pppoe" )
username_ppp0="<my telefon number>"
password_ppp0=
pppd_ppp0=(
        "defaultroute"
        "usepeerdns"
        "maxfail 1"
)

#       WLAN
#
modules=( "wpa_supplicant" )
wpa_supplicant_ath0="-Dmadwifi"
config_ath0=( "dhcp" )

dhcp_ath0="nontp nosendhost"
dhcpcd_ath0="-L"

Reproducible: Always

Comment 1 Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2008-01-23 10:43:24 UTC
BTW I use dhcpcd-3.1.7
Comment 2 Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2008-02-02 10:55:00 UTC
net-misc/dhcpcd-3.2.0 shows similar behaviour
Comment 3 Roy Marples 2008-02-03 23:36:26 UTC
This looks like a baselayout issue rather than a dhcpcd one.
Could you trace a command line call?

dhcpcd -h '' eth0

If that sends the hostname still then it's a dhcpcd bug, otherwise a baselayout bug.
Comment 4 Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2008-02-04 10:36:08 UTC
Tested dhcpcd w/ and w/o :

n22 ~ # man dhcpcd
n22 ~ # ifconfig ath0 up
n22 ~ # dhcpcd --test -L -h '' ath0
err, ath0: timed out
n22 ~ # dhcpcd --test -L -h 'miau' ath0
err, ath0: timed out
n22 ~ # ifconfig ath0 down

dhcpcd works as expected so it seems to be rather a baselayout than a dhcpcd issue.

Comment 5 Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2008-12-28 18:55:08 UTC
seems to be fixed in the meanwhile
