Testing with CFLAGS="... -O0 ..." yields the same result.
I cannot stabilise herdstat without this being resolved (or at least answered to) by herdstat developers.

If more and more bugs arise with this, and no one actually wants to maintain the package itself, we are going to have to consider removing it. If you don't want it removed, please step up and start fixing bugs that come up with this. The cpp herd (all two of us that are active) can't start maintaining packages that have an upstream that abandoned them.
