Description Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-05-09 01:11:30 UTC
My only access to the Internet is through a proxy, and I am unable to use rsync without SOCKS support. tsocks is a compact SOCKS 4/5 client which gives this support. Adding this package to the LiveCD would allow me to install directly onto this computer rather than finding a compiled version of tsocks, burning it to a CD, and moving it to this computer before I can do anything. For people without extra computers who are stuck behind a SOCKS proxy, this is even more important.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

1. Boot LiveCD
2. Try to install
3. Fail miserably because it's impossible to emerge sync

Actual Results:
Can't use rsync through SOCKS proxy so need to copy over precompiled package

Expected Results:
Be able to use rsync through SOCKS proxy and happily install from LiveCD only
