The Bluefish syntax highlighting editor fails completely as per the details at the URL supplied. This appears to be a GTK problem. Upstream at Gnome is already aware of the problem, but it doesn't appear that anything is being done. I don't know if any of the Gentoo devs are involved in work, or if a problem such as this one simply gets kicked upstream, but I wanted to register the issue here in case someone with the skills to address it could move us toward a solution. See http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=498954 .
Created attachment 141403 [details, diff] Patch to fix Bluefish highlighting problem Please see the additions since yesterday to the thread at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=498954. It looks as if the Bluefish developers got busy and took another look at this issue and have possibly fixed it. Jim Hayward submitted a patch, both on the bug list and to the Bluefish CVS repository that successfully applies to Bluefish 1.0.7 and appears to solve the problem. Can this be applied to the current stable ebuild of Bluefish on Gentoo and made "official" with an appropriate version bump?
This bug has been closed in Gnome Bugzilla, and the upstream fix should be applied to Gentoo. I'm submitting a couple of additional patches, one against the bluefish ebuild and a second which is a modestly modified patch to the code so as to make it compatible with epatch from inside an ebuild. This should bump bluefish to 1.0.7-r1. Proper Manifest and digest maintenance is required, of course.
Created attachment 141430 [details, diff] Patch to bump bluefish ebuild to 1.0.7-r1
Created attachment 141432 [details, diff] Slightly modified patch to preferences.c for Gentoo ebuild The only difference between this and the first patch is the path to the patch target file. This obsoletes the first patch.
is there a need for it now that we have 1.1 in the tree? I can add it if requested, though I don't know if anyone wants to stick with 1.0.
obsolete due to 1.1 in the tree
