We att högskolan Trollhättan would like to become official mirror for both portage and disfiles. Syncing according to the rules laid out under documentation. gentoo-x86-portage Gentoo Linux Portage tree gentoo-portage Gentoo Linux Portage tree mirror available via rsync://ds.thn.htu.se and distfiles available vie http://ds.thn.htu.se/linux/gentoo my official address is christian.jiresjo@htu.se but it seems i am not able to recieve mail from @gentoo.org att that location so communicate through the address i used for bugzilla. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
the distfiles are available via http://mirrors.sec.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/gentoo. Since we also provide a rsync portage mirror. Please add the IP 141.12.220.13 (mirrors.sec.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de) to the primary rsync portage server (rsync1.us.gentoo.org) that we can syncing with rsync1.us.gentoo.org.
sorry i've post in the wrong bugs id. :-(
When trying to use gentoo-portage, I receive an error message. Could you look into it? Thanks. # rsync -avz 193.10.192.105::gentoo-portage/metadata/timestamp.chk . Welcome to ds.thn.htu.se! This server is located in Trollhattan, Sweden and is run by the Computer Science department of the University of Trollhattan/Uddevalla <http://www.htu.se> and the local Open Source User Group <http://osug.thn.htu.se> For info on Gentoo Linux, see <http://www.gentoo.org/>. DISCLAIMER: The owner of this server are not liable for any use, storage or transmission of any files stored on this archive. @ERROR: chdir failed rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (469 bytes read so far) rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(165)
Fixed the typo that was causing it. Where is timestamp.chk generated because mine looks weird. Says Thu, 05 Jun 2003 06:29:00 +0000 when generated att 09.00@GMT+1 Time is synced against timeserver and is deemed in line when checked against time.nist.gov
The source files do not appear to have been updated since May 19th. Can you check your scripts and ensure they are syncing every 4 hours, starting at 0000 UTC? Thanks.
The timestamp.chk file is generated on one of our servers. Servers pull it during syncing. Sometimes there are delays when syncing with servers other than rsync1.us. I've added 141.12.220.13 to the access list for rsync1.us.gentoo.org. Please update your rsync cron jobs to point to rsync1.us.gentoo.org and post back here when you've done so. We'll monitor the server for a couple days to make sure things are working fine and then add it to the rotation. Also, I'd like to verify that ntp is running, what the upstream connection is along with the CPU & RAM. Thanks.
141.12.220.13 migth be worthy of getting added but that belongs in another thread. ds.thn.htu.se is 193.10.192.105 which is the ip that should be added to rsync1 if you want to let us in. upstream connection is a 100 Megabit comming of a 2 Gigabit connection. Machine is currently a 466 Mhz Celeron (socket 370 on a slot 1 converter) with 128 M but if i can only find a slot 1 motherboard that can handle pIII(among our current stock or donation) it might get upgraded to a pIII 600 with 256 or 384M. I will lock in to why the distfiles(source) mirror have fallen behind
Added 193.10.192.105.
I've added the source mirror to our list of mirrors on: http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors.xml It should show up on the site within 4 hours. Additionally, I've sent instructions on accessing our private distfiles mirror to slaugther@linux.nu. Please update your scripts to use this mirror to sync from. Finally, I've subscribed slaugther@linux.nu to our gentoo mirrors mailing list, which is a low volume list that we use to announce items related to the gentoo system of mirrors. thank you for helping to support gentoo linux.
193.10.192.105 has been added as rsync1.se.gentoo.org (and is also in the new rsync.se.gentoo.org round robin set). closing this bug. Thanks for your time and resources. Cheers!
