I don't mind creating a new ebuild on demand, but it will take a while until I can get to it. If you took a stab at it yourself and gave me something to start with, it could speed up the process considerably. ;^)
<a href=http://www.sapdb.org/tgz_linux.htm>http://www.sapdb.org/tgz_linux.htm</a> Direct link to the files. If it's not done in a couple weeks I will take a stab at it, too busy to learn at the moment. =)
has anyone done anything with this ?
Punting this back to bug-wranglers. I had a look, and the thing is released in a really awkward way. Don't think I have the time or interest to deal with it.
I'm busy learning ebuilds .. have writen wto so far .. still learning tho;P I'd be happy to take a stab at it with some feed back on what I've done ? Comments ? Henti
post whatever you got and just ask for comments
feel free to post stuff even though i closed the bug for now ;) ill re-open it after 1.4 is released
i've eprocurement running on it at work
Created attachment 5667 [details] sapdb 7.3.0.29 ebuild try it :)
Created attachment 5875 [details] new version forget the old, try the new
I'm too busy for this bug, so I'll reassign it.. regards
is there a newer ebuild yet? it's a pity, that sapdb isn't in the portage tree. well, since sapdb is related to mysql it might get more popular.
update the ebuild to the latest version mholzer and ill do some tests on it ...
Created attachment 13064 [details] sapdb-7.3.0.32.ebuild still 7.3.0 please try out
Created attachment 13065 [details] sapdb-7.3.0.32.ebuild still 7.3.0 please try out
Created attachment 13066 [details] sapdb-7.4.3.17.ebuild sapdb-7.4.3.17.ebuild the newer sapdb, also please try
matt: did you do some ebuilds ? if no, could you test these ? we also need start/stop scripts
I started to create an ebuild for SAP -- starting from source. After MUCH work I actually have the system building, there is a required patch (which I tried to minimize) and it will compile as joe blow user (or in the sandbox). But I can not figure our how to install the thing, because some files are missing from the distribution. I'm -- stuck, and not sure if its worth it to continue down this road (source installation) Not sure if starting from source is of interest to you -- but if so, send an email and I will pass on whatever I have
I've had made start-stop-scripts for myself look here: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=65515 It has options for getting all database instances up and starting the server and webtools. Furthermore changeable DBM user and su feature, so that it can run with other priviledges. Well what's about webtools, jdbc and odbc drivers and database instances? When you too busy, can I may change the ebuild for post installations processes? What's about installing from the native tars instead of the install program? Should I take a look on it? Furthermore I can work on the webtools, jdbc and odbc driver ebuilds that weekend (not sure if the time is acceptable). On problems with sap db, I've a working installation with webtools, jdbc driver and server components and an instance install script.
Well, I missed something. For working on, could you please post your source result, e.g. files that you identified. That means which files would be installed in the depend, independ data and program path. Furthermore which tars belongs to it. By the way in the posting in the forum I've had the env.d file, too
Well, good and bad news. The writing of the build was very quickly. I implemented a md5 check for the extracted tar balls according to the sums in the tars. The infrastructure is ready. The start-stop-scripts are ready (see last posting). But there are some things to do. First there are no missing files, but it seems that the registry of the db server and the system tables are written in a way, I couldn't adopt, so far. I'm trying further. To do list: - Writing of db registry - Writing of db system tables - Including of start-stop script and environment files - User switch to user sapdb - Installer for database instance When ready (I hope I get the registry and system tables running) then I writing further ebuilds: - Webtools - Htmldoc - WebDAV extension aso.
Well, no luck with creating an ebuild for SAP DB: 1. It seems that the installer and the source checking - if available - Registry1.dcom (which seems to be a binary hash list of installed programs) and add or remove SAP DB programs. 2. The system tables seems to look after Registry1.dcom 3. The source of SAP DB 7.4.03.25 have to much errors for a clean gentoo install (wrong program parameter callings, missing build information aso.) Therefore, imho, I have no hope that a source installation on gentoo works errorless. So I stop developing of an ebuild.
sapdb will die in a short while instead of it, use maxdb for an ebuild which installs maxdb, please open a new bug
maxdb IS sapdb, they just changed the name versioning schema and everything else hasnt changed
reassigning since maxdb == mysql
Why reassign since mysql is in portage?
you guys don't get it. while sapdb has been taken over by the MySQL people, it is still a SEPERATE product. It has been renamed to MaxDB since they took it over.
please update your ebuild to use the new version from: http://www.mysql.com/downloads/maxdb.html latest version is 7.5.00.05.
made obsolete by bugs 42286, 42465.
