same with 0.52.7. Seems to work on my amd64 so I attach the emerge --info.

The problem is that a conditional sed is run before the patch. Can easily be solved by applying all patches first and run sed after.

same thing but for 0.52.7 ebuild. Those should be perfectly safe as they only change the order things are done.
