Description Mark Wehner 2008-01-13 17:39:41 UTC
In the last 3 maybe 4 version of pymol (>0.96) it's not possible to generate symmetry-related molecules, because the space group is not recognized. The error is not related to the space group itself (I tested at least 5 different ones and they all fail). Donnie Berkholz suggested on the pymol-users list this could be due to FHS-compatible locations and default paths in pymol.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Compile newest pymol version
2. Load any pdb
3. symexp operations fail

Actual Results:
It's not possible to create symmetry-related molecules.

Expected Results:
Symmetry-related molecules should be created.

Comment 1 Mark Wehner 2008-01-15 19:10:10 UTC
The problem is fixed in the svn revision 3151 of pymol. If you change the svn path in the 1.0-r1 ebuild to: "https://pymol.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/pymol/trunk/pymol" you can use this ebuild to build the latest version, which is a beta of 1.1.

Regards,
Mark
Comment 2 Justin Lecher (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-02-13 11:46:40 UTC
confirmed,
should be marked as solved.
Comment 3 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-07 05:14:54 UTC
Fixed as noted above, thanks for the report!
