I think we need to get a message out soon, preferably by Chris or Grant about the current state of affairs or more specifically why: -Gentoo Foundation's charter has been revoked -Daniel Robbins is still listed as President of the Gentoo Foundation Things seem to get a bit out of control communication wise*. As always I am ready to help, just let me know. * http://osnews.com/story/19148/Daniel_Robbins_Offer_for_Gentoo http://linux.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/01/12/0152208 http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-644321-highlight-.html Reproducible: Always

Ah, forgot to post the link to the pr@ alias - sorry ;) Sent now. As to the hold-up, well that'd be the episode of CSI which I just watched. Unfortunately meant I wasn't looking at IRC and Bugs for ~45 minutes. Off-topic Hint: bull riding is dangerous and really messes up your spine. Anyone looking for a fast way into a casket is encouraged to try this sport ;-)
Jakub: please refrain from ever using ascii banners in bugzilla again. it isnt constructive and merely adds to the noise.

PR: Well, I'm not the lead here, but since the lead is AWOL, I guess that I can give my input. This project is essentially dead. There are a couple people who occasionally respond to user queries to the alias, but otherwise, nothing is going on here. Nobody is really active. I sent in some news about 2007.1 a few weeks back and nobody's posted anything or even responded. I'd say the project is dead if we can't even get out pertinent information like the cancellation of a release to our users. http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.gentoo.devel/54138
P.S. What else can we do to get the message out?
I live about a mile from one of the members, so I can go annoy her if necessary ;P But yes I've talked to at least three people, one of which reviewed the news items and said he was fine with them getting posted as long as someone else reviewed them. I hope for that to happen sometime today. -Alec
So far, antarus, astinus and I have been involved with putting something together. I want to get input before we post it from musikc.

Please don't add me to this stuff. I've retired from Trustees for a reason and don't want to be involved in any more of this sort of thing. I feel as if I have given more than my fair share to this particular thing and that it has yielded me nothing, so I'm moving on to other things. I've added trustees@gentoo.org here since it does involve them, though I think only Grant gets those emails now, anyway.

From what I understand you do lots and lots for Gentoo. Therefor I think it is important that such an influential figure (and ex council member) voice his opinion about the current situation.

I just thought news items would be a good idea ;) I got feedback from Chris and Nesyx today (some of my xml was wrong or could use better tags). Still waiting on review (I can't post news items myself). -Alec
No, we're really *not* all involved. If that were the case, we wouldn't be in this mess, now would we? *grin* I don't see where opinion matters much in the case of legal matters. At any rate, my point was more that I have given my opinion several times and don't really see what positive result would come from me stating it again. After all, what is important is what the community as a whole, and more specifically, the developers and Foundation members, think about this situation than what a couple individuals think. This is something that affects everybody, and as such, everybody should be asked about it. I am staying out of this for lots of reasons, some of them personal, but the main reason that I would like to share is this: I feel as if I failed as a Gentoo Foundation Trustee. I had certain ideas for where the Foundation needed to go, and I did not accomplish those ideas nor move in the direction of accomplishing those ideas. Even without my own ideas in play, I should have done more to accomplish the goals that were decided during my tenure. Rather, I did what most of us tend to do and simply let things happen. When someone said that they were working on something, I didn't ask about it. I simply waited for them to bring it up again. I was not proactive enough in getting things done and that makes me feel as if I have failed in what I was elected to do for Gentoo. Now, I hope that you can understand why I really just want to be left alone? Thanks in advance, Chris
These were posted today, thanks to musikc for getting it done ;) -Alec
Thanks all for the great work! It's good to finally see some fresh news on the Gentoo homepage. @Chris Thank you for your honest answer.
