The RPI ACM would like to provide a new Gentoo rsync mirror. rsync://acm.cs.rpi.edu/gentoo-portage acm.cs.rpi.edu 128.213.5.35 Location: Troy, NY Contact: Cory McWilliams, sac@acm.cs.rpi.edu
The last rsync was "Tue, 03 Jun 2003 02:32:00 +0000" and should have been at 03:00. Can you confirm that there are no errors and that ntp is running on the server? Thanks.
Sorry, I thought it was already running ntp. It is now. ntpdate[24099]: step time server 128.113.172.123 offset -107.820396 sec
I've added 128.213.5.35 to the access list for rsync1.us.gentoo.org. Please update your rsync cron jobs to point to rsync1.us.gentoo.org and post back here when you've done so. We'll monitor the server for a couple days to make sure things are working fine and then add it to the rotation. Also, I'd like to verify the upstream connection, max user limit, cpu & RAM. Thanks.
Ok, it's syncing with rsync1.us.gentoo.org. One was missed as I frantically looked up how to make rsync bind to a particular IP, but it should be all set now. Max User Limit: 10 (Not sure what to expect, willing to change as needed) CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 2.00GHz RAM: 256MB Connection: 100mbit
128.213.5.35 is now rsync18.us.gentoo.org. As soon as DNS catches up, you should start seeing some traffic. I've subscribed <mcwilc@rpi.edu> to our gentoo-mirrors mailing list (low volume). This list is used to discuss mirror-related issues. Thanks for supporting Gentoo.
