Description Marco Hennings 2003-05-06 05:51:15 UTC
I think it is since the XFree 4.3 update. But i have not used Xfig since about
February.

X Version:
  Gentoo Linux (XFree86 4.3.0, revision r2)

Version of Xfig: current stable, 3.2.3d-r1
I tried to Update XFig to 3.2.4-r1 but the same error occurs.

Error Message is:

X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 45 (X_OpenFont)
  Value in failed request: 0x1c00011
Serial number of failed request: 66
Current serial number in output stream: 67

hmm, I just emerged it and it ran fine. Can you try to re-emerge it, please?
Comment 2 Marco Hennings 2003-06-02 09:02:14 UTC
Remerged xfig. Did not change anything.

When i connect to another machine with ssh and start xfig there to connect to this maschines x server the same error occurs.

maybe its a problem between xfig and this xfree (4.3.0-r2) version.
Comment 3 Marco Hennings 2003-06-02 09:12:44 UTC
Xfig runs fine inside xnest.

The only noticable difference is that i have an english
keyboard layout inside xnest, while i use a german layout normally.

do you use openmotif or lesstif? Whichever you use, can you please re-emerge it?
Comment 5 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-06-02 18:55:51 UTC
same issue as 16382. and I believe it is related to openmotif or lesstif needing to be recompiled against the newer xfree.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 16382 ***
Comment 6 Marco Hennings 2003-06-05 03:32:05 UTC
I have recompiled openmotif and tried xfig egain. no change.
next i unmerged openmotif and tried lesstif. again no change.

Emerge tells that xfig does not depend on motif:

 emerge -pe xfig |grep tif
[ebuild N ] media-libs/tiff-3.5.7-r1

The error message is the same as in BUG 16382.

Maybe the problem behind 16282 is not motif either.

ok, separate issue from winex, sorry
Comment 8 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-06-06 02:57:59 UTC
Marco,

What happens if you comment out these two lines?

    FontPath "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/local/"
    FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/"
Comment 9 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-06-14 21:03:19 UTC
Marco?
Comment 10 Marco Hennings 2003-06-16 01:05:18 UTC
Sorry, had few time lately.

I commented out the lines you suggested - now xfig runs.
Thank you your help!

Next i'll have to find out, which font causes the trouble.
Comment 11 Marco Hennings 2003-06-16 06:27:42 UTC
The error was caused by a font named Morpheus.ttf
