Description Joshua 2003-05-06 01:11:41 UTC
In KDE I am getting random system freezes where I will be working on any program and I move my mouse to an icon it will disappear off my desktop and everything freezes. The icon disappearance happens everytime. XMMS is the only program to stay open and playing and crashing X does not work. This is reproduceable and happens after ~10-20 mins into X session.
I deleted my .kde dirs to start fresh, re-emerged X and KDE full package tree (emerge -e kde...) and shut down all non-essential programs. Still it freezes. There is no mention of a crash in any of the logs. This only happens when KDE is running as my term sessions are rock solid for any amount of time.

when kde and X were re-emerged all settings in make.conf were set to their safest levels as well.

I think this happen when X is started, not KDE (ie try another DE or a WM). Are you
using nvidia drivers? with hardware acceleration on? please paste also the "emerge
info" output

We need more information to be able to try to fix it.
