Description Gonçalo Silva 2008-01-07 22:36:52 UTC
gnome-extra/gnome-games-2.20.1: error compiling but no error message

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Emerged new gcc
2. Followed the gentoo guide and updated the needed packages, updated the needed links, etc
3. re-emerged the whole system: OK
4. re-emerged the whole world: failed on gnome-games
5. Resumed emerge skipping first (gnome-games): OK
6. Tried to emerge gnome-games: Fail
7. Unmerged gnome-games
8. Tried to emerge gnome-games 2.20.1/2.20.2: Fail
Actual Results:
Gnome-games is gone and there's no explicit error in the console output

Expected Results:
Emerged it correctly or show some error message in order to be easily correctable.

Maybe it has something to do with USE flags? Anyway, all other gnome packages compiled successfully.

My computer is an Asus Laptop (Core 2 Duo) with an Nvidia Card (official drivers). I am using NetworkManager @ ipw3945 (guess it's relevant since the last compiling lines have something to do with network).

Forwarding this gcc ICE error to toolchain as suggested by dirtyepic
Comment 5 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2008-01-08 06:06:31 UTC
does it fail at the same place every time ? if so, does it fail if you emerge after setting your CFLAGS to something not insane ? test with:
CFLAGS=""
Comment 6 Gonçalo Silva 2008-01-08 08:06:31 UTC
Solved by:

Re-emerge gcc, use normal CFLAGS while compiling gnome-games.

Thanks.
