Description Mike Basinger 2003-05-04 21:51:52 UTC
My Gnome logout dialog takes 1+ minute to come up after I changed my xfree
cursors in /usr/share/cursors/xfree/default/index.theme. Gnome logout work
properly again after I rm -rf .gnome* in my home directory. Only have to delete
.gnome* once after changing cursors.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Change cursor type in /usr/share/cursors/xfree/default/index.theme
2. Log out of Gnome
3.

Actual Results:
Gnome logout dialog does not come up for about 60 seconds.

Expected Results:
Gnome logout dialog come up quickly.

cursor theme - gentoo-blue
X version - 4.3.0-r2

logout window still takes only about a second!

then again, I don't use any DM, use startx instead

On the forums someone mention they had a similar problem and fix it by re-emerging gnome-sessions. I tried that with no luck.

anything relevant in .gnomerc-errors ?

And what exactly do you mean with the logout dialog ? The one with the radio buttons ?
Comment 4 Mike Basinger 2003-05-05 17:25:42 UTC
The dialog box that comes up when you choose Gnome Menu--> Log Out or Action --> Log Out (if you use the menu panel)

Here is my .gnomerc-errors

Comment 5 Mike Basinger 2003-05-05 17:28:45 UTC
The problem also goes away if I delete the transparent Corner panel I use as a launcher.
Comment 6 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-05-05 18:36:32 UTC
there shouldnt come up a dialog, i thought i had it default to direct logout with session saving (no prompt on logout).

the only thing i can think of is that it might be the the nonsession managed apps playing up, and for some reason the dialog with these apps doesn't come up. Then it takes some time before it moves on if you don't click close.

so do I close this bug or?
Comment 8 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-06-12 05:29:00 UTC
can't reproduce and it isn't really a big problem if you don't switch cursors every hour.
