Description Matt Rechkemmer 2008-01-04 21:22:36 UTC
On a system with syslog-ng (with network logging) and iptables installed, when syslog-ng (re)starts, the service dependency caching issues the following message:

 * Service 'ip6tables' should be BEFORE service 'net', but one of
 * the services 'ip6tables' depends on, depends on 'net'!
 * Service 'iptables' should be BEFORE service 'net', but one of
 * the services 'iptables' depends on, depends on 'net'! [ ok ]
 * Stopping syslog-ng ...                                                                                                                                                                                  [ ok ]
 * Starting syslog-ng ...                                                                                                                                                                                  [ ok ]

I don't use the iptables init script, so this message is kind of annoying.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1.  Install syslog-ng and iptables.
2. Configure syslog-ng to log to a remote host and add it to the default runlevel.
3.  (Re)start syslog-ng and/or run /etc/init.d/depscan.sh -u.
Actual Results:
The warning message appears.

Expected Results:
I don't think the warning message should appear. I've been able to circumvent it, by altering /etc/init.d/syslog-ng and changing "need net" to "after net."

emerge --info please. iptables does not need logger, it can 'use logger'.
