Description Radek Podgorny 2003-05-04 08:59:57 UTC
Hi,

since I'm not a 24/7 onliner a really miss the feature of playing Quake3 - Navy
Seals with bots. Currently it's impossible without extra bot files. I think they
should be a part of the ebuild and should be maybe conditianaly driven by some
USE flag. It could be just internal (like in the mozilla package).

Take a look at http://www.ns-co.net/files_misc.shtml, please...

Thanks...
Radek

Most of the download links on that page seem to be broken but I've found the file at ftp://ftp.task.gda.pl/mirror/ftp.extreme-players.de/exp/q3/mod/nsq3/nsco_b10_bots.zip

I'm gonna download and test it right now. Maybe, I'll patch the ebuild myself but I'm not sure of my skills... :-(

quake3-nsco-1.45-r1.ebuild

This is the updated ebuild. It uses a newly defined "bot" variable. Some minor
modifications may be necessary since there's some empty directory in the
archive.

The biggest problem is... ...the bot's still don't work. Can someone please
take a look at that? It's not a fault of the ebuild, they refuse to work even
when I unpack it by hand. :-(

This ebuild can be a good starting point anyway...

i encountered the same issues ... when adding a new bot i'd get this:
Fatal: AAS not initialized
Sarge BotAISetupClient failed
quit

i looked into it and basically what it comes down to (i think) is that the maps and
such were updated but the bot files were not ...

specifically, i found this post at http://www.effiles.com/file.info?ID=6087

I realy enjoy the looks of this map. Nice item placement.
I encountered one problem trying to add bots, Fatal: .aas not Initialized.
When the final map is made into bsp... you should also run a new bspc for new
aas and overwrite the old aas in the maps folder inside the pk3. Thats one tip that
I learned

which meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeans that (1) i dont have the know how to update the
bot files ... right now my time is better spent on other things, sorry :( and (2) until
someone releases an update either officially or unofficially, this support wont be
added into portage
