Description Marek Kubica 2008-01-02 23:25:10 UTC
When starting warsow an an AMD64 system with ATI drivers loaded and running, it sets the screen resolution to 800x600 and crashes afterwards, without re-setting the resoultion that was before. This is only happening when the ATI drivers are running, as when they do not the game starts properly - but horribly slow.

To reset to 1280x800 you first have to switch to 1024x768 first, because xrandr thinks that the X-Server is still running at 1280x800.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge warsow
2. run it
Actual Results:
warsow closed itself after setting the resoultion to 800x600.

Expected Results:
The game running like with software rendering but much faster (and actually playable).

Have you tried the same with a more recent ebuild yet? If it still happens, could you possibly add the console output of Warsow here, please? :)

Warsow 0.4.1 console output

The newer warsow does not run either - it just quits without resetting the proper resolution. The console output is attached.

Well, after updating to the new ATI drivers it seems to work.
