Description Jeremy Huddleston (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-05-03 23:25:59 UTC
I am installing 1.4-rc4, and the bootstrap emerges portage-2.0.47-r10 without any
problem. It fails, however on the emerge of baselayout.

I created a log file for you to look at with the output from the bootstrap (I commented
out the emerge portage and through in an emerge info).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

I had PORTAGE_TMPDIR=/usr/tmp, and changing this to /var/tmp made the problem go away.

/usr/tmp is a symlink to /var/tmp, so I am not sure what went wrong, but that is definately the
culprit (I verified it twice)
Comment 2 Caleb Tennis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-05-30 22:41:39 UTC
It was just a sandbox violation - part of the "portage protection" :)
Comment 3 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-25 11:25:15 UTC
Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
