Description Dongsu Park 2008-01-02 15:22:32 UTC
There exists a libsputext bug in xine-lib 1.1.8, which I already posted on the xine-user and xine-devel list.

Korean(cp949) subtitles(and probably all CJK subtitles) have been unseeable using the current xine-lib 1.1.8, while it had no problem with 1.1.7. Therefore xine-lib 1.1.8 could not be used for Korean subtitles.

So I tested with the given patch applied to xine-lib 1.1.8, which works with no problem. Patch can be downloaded at http://marc.info/?l=xine-devel&m=119928184501429&w=2

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set correct encoding configurations in $HOME/.xine/config:
 subtitles.separate.src_encoding:cp949
 subtitles.separate.font:BaekmukGulim

2. Play a video file with a cp949-encoded Korean subtitle, using any media players based on xine-lib such as kaffeine.
Actual Results:
Then all Korean subtitle characters are shown as lots of #'s: Thus nothing can be seen.

Expected Results:
Of course subtitles should be shown normally when encoding configurations are correct.
It works correct when the attached patch is applied to xine 1.1.8.

The same report including patch is posted on the xine-devel mailing list.
