Description Jörg Herzinger 2007-12-30 18:41:41 UTC
With standard gcc configuration ptsever segfaults whenever a client tries to connect. When idling (no connections) no errors or anything is reported. I tested it starting ptserver manually with strace and it really crashes the second a client tries to list the contents of its /afs. It can also be seen in the BosLog where ptserver sends a "signal 11".

Switching to vanilla sources solved the problem for me (gcc-config -l)

My System:
> root@kitt $ cat /proc/version
> Linux version 2.6.22-hardened-r8 (root@kitt) (gcc version 3.4.6 (Gentoo Hardened 3.4.6-r2, ssp-3.4.6-1.0, pie-8.7.10)) #1 SMP Wed Dec 19 21:26:28 CET 2007
On an AMD 64 Machine with all packages on latest versions.

Please reopen with

- ebuild version
- emerge --info
- a backtrace attached...

Thanks.

Segmentation fault traced with gdb

This really isn't useful. You need to recompile the package w/ -gddb or similar, disable stripping and run bt in gdb when it crashes. Please re-read the howto.

Eh, stupid typo; -ggdb of course...

Sorry, since I need openafs running I can't just recompile and test around for too long. I will try to do this in the next days but can't promise anything. Maybe the strace output will help too.

ebuild version is 1.2
