XMotd, a small program to display a message file to users when it changes, is not available in Portage.

Reproducible: Always

Looks like upstream is dead, the Web page is still there but the last release, a beta version too, came out in July 2003.

Moreover, having just tried installing the latest version xmotd on my system I saw errors at both build time (when trying to generate the man page, already after linking the executable) and run time (an immediate segfault).

Wow, cheers for digging this up, I'd long since forgotten about it. Given that nobody else has asked in nearly nine years I'd say it's safe to close :)
