I was installing Gentoo with the 1.4 rc4 livecd.  modprobe sym53c8xx went fine.
 However...

root #modprobe sd_mod
modprobe:  Can't locate module sd_mod

I did a quick ls to look for the sd_mod (in both the 2.4.20 and 2.4.21_pre7
kernel subdirectories) and indeed there is no sd_mod, thus the insall fails
because I can't partition the hard disks.

Thanks for all your efforts!  Gentoo is way cool.

Try the new experimental x86 livecd @ http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu/experimental/x86/livecd/. Use the 2004.0 version, and let us know if you have any more problems.

Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
