Description Michał Golba 2007-12-28 19:22:00 UTC
"Code Listing 3: A full /etc/fstab example":

/dev/hda1 /boot ext2 defaults,noatime 1 2
/dev/hda2 none swap sw 0 0
/dev/hda3 / ext3 noatime 0 1

/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom auto noauto,user 0 0

There is no information about two more lines that are in fstab:

proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
shm /dev/shm tmpfs nodev,nosuid,noexec 0 0

So i commented those two lines and everything seems to work fine but it still bothers me. Which information is correct? The _full_/etc/fstab_example_ or the info from fstab?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the handbook on chapter 8.
2. Compare "A full /etc/fstab example" table with fstab extracted from stage.
Actual Results:
After installing my Gentoo with last two lines commented, there's no error messages during boot.

Expected Results:
I'm not an expert, so i don't know, but regarding info in fstab (# NOTE: The next line is critical for boot!) maybe it should crash?
