Imagine 2 MSN accounts A and B. Imagine the same physicak person, that I register in my two accounts, G1 in A and G2 in B. G1 and G2 buddies are grouped, in the list, under the same contact, called G. If, in the expanded list, you put G2 first, G1 second, and you put online A, and offline B, and G is really offline, and you tick to ask to see ofline people, then, G does not appear in the list at all. G will appear in the list (as offline of course) as soon as you activate B. Desactivating B may have random results ... I have yet to ask G to come online, and see of the fact G1 being online forces pidgin to show the contact ... or not. That may take a few days. For now, I report this; when I have more elements, and you confirm me the bug, I will report upstream: http://d.pidgin.im/simpleticket (was my explanations clear? )
Created attachment 139094 [details] /tmp/emerge--info Of course, I can sware this is a regression bug, because, before I upgrade to 2.3.1, 2.2.2 used to work perfectly until few days. I also need more time to see try to reproduce mixing protocols.
The bug is more complex than I thought. A friend (whose contact is also in the way I descibed, registered on 2 of my accounts, with the "usually offline one" first in the list); he went online, I could see him, I activated account B, expanded the contact, loged off B, then in the main contact list, I did not see the contact at all ... whereas in the chat windows, the contact was still online, green, and, there was not message like "contact loged out". So, the bug not only affects offline buddies, but may also affect offline contacts, but also online ones. i have seen the buddy online when he loged on, then, after a few operations (getting my accoun B on, the off line ...), the buddy did not appear at all in the list (whereas I could still chat with him).
