Description Yugo 2003-05-01 12:42:52 UTC
I tried following the directions in the April 28 newsletter for running Portage
as user Portage, but it didn't seem to work. I didn't see user portage pop up
in top and instead it was running as root, when I tried emerge sync as well as
emerge some package. Also, the user and group for portage were already on my
system (perhaps automagically done by Gentoo?) well before I saw the blurb, so
the useradd commands didn't work.

did you review make.conf and add the right keywords to FEATURES ?
Comment 2 Yugo 2003-05-01 19:09:53 UTC
# grep  FEATURES  /etc/make.conf

FEATURES="sandbox userpriv usersandbox"

...seems okay to me?
Comment 3 Yugo 2003-05-02 02:03:43 UTC
This appears to be fixed, now that I have rebooted after compiling gentoo-sources 2.4.20r2 (previously was on r1).
