Our gentoo rsync and source mirror, trumpetti.atm.tut.fi has been on the list of gentoo download mirrors for some time now. For some reason, we don't have access to rsync from rsync1.us.gentoo.org. The update schedule for both the rsync and source mirrors are as instructed.
gentoo-x86-portage (legacy support) doesn't seem to be available. Can you verify that it is configured? # rsync -avz 130.230.54.100::::gentoo-x86-portage/metadata/timestamp.chk . Welcome to ftp.fi.debian.org, also known as trumpetti.atm.tut.fi and trumpetti.ip6.atm.tut.fi for the IPv6 world. We are located at Tampere University of Technology, Finland. All services (http, ftp, rsync) support IPv6. In case of questions, suggestions or problems, please contact deb@atm.tut.fi @ERROR: Unknown module '::gentoo-x86-portage' rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (360 bytes read so far) rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(165)
Ignore my last comment, I had a typo. I've added 130.230.54.100 to the access list for rsync1.us.gentoo.org. Please update your rsync cron jobs to point to rsync1.us.gentoo.org and post back here when you've done so. We'll monitor the server for a couple days to make sure things are working fine and then add it to the rotation.
We are now mirroring gentoo-portage from rsync1.us.gentoo.org.
Can you see if you've had any errors? Syncs were going fine when I started watching with Thu, 01 May 2003 02:31:00 +0000 through Fri, 02 May 2003 20:30:00 +0000. After that, there don't seem to be any more syncs.
It appears rsync1.us.gentoo.org is refusing rsync from trumpetti.atm.tut.fi: trumpetti% rsync rsync1.us.gentoo.org:: rsync: failed to connect to rsync1.us.gentoo.org: Connection refused rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(83) trumpetti%
Looks like you have a current timestamp. Are you having any more problems connecting to rsync1.us?
Mirroring started working pretty much after I reported having trouble connecting to rsync1.us. We have had no trouble since. Thanks.
Ok, watching it again for a while.
130.230.54.100 is now rsync .gentoo.org. As soon as DNS catches up, you should start seeing some traffic. I've subscribed <juzi@cs.tut.fi> to our gentoo-mirrors mailing list (low volume). This list is used to discuss mirror-related issues. Thanks for supporting Gentoo.
That would be rsync1.fi.gentoo.org
Would it be possible to subscribe <deb@atm.tut.fi> instead of <juzi@cs.tut.fi> to gentoo-mirrors? There are a couple of guys in addition to me looking after trumpetti.atm.tut.fi - emails sent to <deb@atm.tut.fi> are delivered also to them.
Done. Would you also prefer that we use the "deb@atm.tut.fi" address as a contact reference?
Yes, please.
I noted that for some reason we are still mirroring gentoo sources from www.ibiblio.org::gentoo/. Would it be possible for us to get access to the private master distfile mirror?
> I noted that for some reason we are still mirroring gentoo sources from www.ibiblio.org::gentoo/. > Would it be possible for us to get access to the private master distfile mirror? Apologies for letting this slip through for so long. I just noticed this comment in an old email I had. Just want to confirm that your still wanting to provide a source mirror.
Yes, we do.
I've sent you some instructions on accessing the private distfiles mirror. Your server information is already on the mirrors page. I'm going to close this bug again. Feel free to reopen if you have any other questions.
(In reply to comment #12) > Done. Would you also prefer that we use the "deb@atm.tut.fi" address > as a contact reference? Can you change that to ice-mirror@cs.tut.fi? The previous domain does not receive email anymore. For confirmation see http://trumpetti.atm.tut.fi/
