i updated to gentoo-sources-2.6.23-r3 and i have a problem with alsa... i have an augidy 4 sound card and use the snd_emu10k1 kernel module... i had no problems with gentoo-sources-2.6.23... the first time i booted with 2.6.23-r3 i got the following error when alsa started: -Loading alsa modules.....(ok) -Restoring Mixer Levels: alsactl:set:conrtol:991:warning:name mismatch(IEC958 Playback Mask/IEC PLayback Default) for control #213 alsactl:set_control:993:warning:index mismatch(3/0) for control #213 alsactl:set_control:993:warning:index mismatch(0/1) for control #213 alsactl:set_control:993:warning:index mismatch(1/2) for control #215 alsactl:set_control:985:warning:index mismatch(3/2) for control #216 alsactl:set_control:987:warning:index mismatch(0/0) for control #216 alsactl:set_control:989:warning:index mismatch(0/0) for control #216 alsactl:set_control:991:warning:name mismatch(IEC958 Playback Default/Audigy Analog/Digital Output Jack) for control #216 alsactl:set_control:993:warning:index mismatch(2/0) for control #216 alsactl:set_control:1085:warning:badcontrol.216.value type -Error while restoring defaults;ignoring then, although alsamixer shows the levels as they were,i have no sound... if i try to restart alsa(/etc/init.d/alsasound restart) no errors show up,but still i don't have sound... the .config for alsa is the same for gentoo-sources 2.6.23 and 2.6.23-r3... and the same snd modules are loaded with both kernels... when i booted with 2.6.23 i got the following when alsa was started: -Loading alsa modules... (ok) -Restoring Mixer Levels: alsactl:set_control:991:warning:name mismatch(IEC958 Playback Default/IEC958 Playback Mask) for control #213 alsactl:set_control:993:warning:index mismatch(0/3) for control #213 alsactl:set_control:995:faild to obtain info for control #213(operation not permitted) -Errors while restoring defaults;ignoring... after this,i have sound with 2.6.23... when i restart alsa,i still have sound, and i get no errors... Reproducible: Always
i should also note, that i get no errors the second time i try to boot with 2.6.23-r3...i get these errors only if i try to boot with a different kernel than the last one i booted with... however the results are the same...no sound with 2.6.23-r3,and everything working fine with 2.6.23...
rm -f /var/lib/alsa/asound.state; run alsamixer or whatever to configure this correctly, then /etc/init.d/alsasound save and reboot.
(In reply to comment #2) > rm -f /var/lib/alsa/asound.state; run alsamixer or whatever to configure this > correctly, then /etc/init.d/alsasound save and reboot. > ok...it worked!... thx... :D
Closing; not really much we could do about alsa stuff changing its internals now and then, sorry.
