Description Denys Dmytriyenko 2007-12-05 06:35:00 UTC
hal-0.5.9.1-r3.ebuild fails, as it tries to create and write to /media directory:

# We now create and keep /media here as both gnome-mount and pmount
# use these directories, to avoid collision.
keepdir /media

I don't use neither of those apps, don't care for GNOME and my /media is read-only network-mounted fs, so don't touch it :)

Reproducible: Always

So use INSTALL_MASK.
Comment 2 Denys Dmytriyenko 2007-12-05 16:57:04 UTC
I didn't ask how to install it - there are couple different workarounds available.

But what I was trying to say is that HAL has nothing to do with /media directory and its ebuild should not try to create it for some other apps. What it does now is a hack, ugly hack. And it needs to be fixed.

I always loved Gentoo for staying away from quick and dirty hacks and doing it right from the beginning. Hope this gets fixed properly eventually.
