After updating all my packages a few days ago I noticed I stopped getting mails from my scripts. After some debugging I found that none of the scripts could run `sendmail`. mail-mta/ssmtp is supposed to provide this, and checking around I found `sendmail` in /usr/sbin. Normal users don't have that in their PATH, so why was it moved there? I see a symlink to /usr/sbin/sendmail as /usr/bin/mailq, but so many things depend on `sendmail` that it should probably be fixed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. `emerge mail-mta/ssmtp` 2. Login as some non-root user 3. `sendmail` Actual Results: -bash: sendmail: command not found Expected Results: sendmail: No recipients supplied - mail will not be sent /var/db/pkg/mail-mta/ssmtp-2.61-r2/CONTENTS dir /etc dir /etc/ssmtp obj /etc/ssmtp/revaliases c5a68f52228de914a8059bbc1e93178f 1174615615 obj /etc/ssmtp/ssmtp.conf eeae710f2d79b374cf4961358ae93c51 1174615615 obj /etc/ssmtp/ssmtp.conf.orig a42028a2dfbe9b069c2eb26b65dddb01 1174615615 dir /usr dir /usr/bin dir /usr/lib dir /usr/sbin obj /usr/sbin/ssmtp f42491e38f736ba9a56c9f21197a1d59 1174615615 dir /usr/share dir /usr/share/doc dir /usr/share/doc/ssmtp-2.61-r2 obj /usr/share/doc/ssmtp-2.61-r2/CHANGELOG_OLD.bz2 7f77323184e79d9da7667c583cc485e8 1174615615 obj /usr/share/doc/ssmtp-2.61-r2/DESC.bz2 924e86dfa3d0d335d5c5371049c4e312 1174615615 obj /usr/share/doc/ssmtp-2.61-r2/INSTALL.bz2 977a0ad415885b1637817d5218286a3d 1174615615 obj /usr/share/doc/ssmtp-2.61-r2/README.bz2 06669264976794e7ceed8078d9387f4c 1174615615 obj /usr/share/doc/ssmtp-2.61-r2/TLS.bz2 9933a365ec4d3df37d2e68944f49d4a7 1174615615 dir /usr/share/man dir /usr/share/man/man8 obj /usr/share/man/man8/ssmtp.8.bz2 63afb99b8e486912040c977c6fa9d15c 1174615615 sym /usr/sbin/sendmail -> /usr/sbin/ssmtp 1174615615 sym /usr/bin/mailq -> /usr/sbin/sendmail 1174615615 sym /usr/bin/newaliases -> /usr/sbin/sendmail 1174615615 sym /usr/lib/sendmail -> /usr/sbin/sendmail 1174615615
Been installed there for ages, exactly as with any other MTA out there.
