Description Pedro Rosa 2007-11-28 13:15:18 UTC
Pidgin versions 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 crash under the use of Jabber/XMPP. The problem may be strictly specific to Gentoo distribution as a neighbor system, under Mandriva 2008.0 does not seem to carry this problem.
On the 2.2.1 the crash is uniquivocal at the very start. Under 2.2.2 it sometimes launches up but it crashes after some time.
There may be a chance that this happens due to the jabber server being exclusively internal (no connections to Internet at all).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Create a jabber/xmpp account and login.

Under debugging, it crashes after one such transaction:
(15:56:46) jabber: Sending (ssl): <iq type='get' id='purple52008cd1' to='myway@proxy.local.ru/????'><query xmlns='http://jabber.org/protocol/disco#info' node='http://qip.ru/caps#0.1.0.6'/></iq>

(15:56:46) jabber: Recv (ssl)(247): <iq from='MyWay@proxy.local.ru/????' to='pedro@proxy.local.ru/Home' xml:lang='en' type='error' id='purple52008cd1'><error code='404' type='cancel'><item-not-found xmlns='urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:xmpp-stanzas'/></error></iq>

The user getting such query (here myway@proxy.local.ru) is always arbitrary.

Not gnome's, please check metadata.xml before assigning bugs.

no more info... probably an upstream bug anyways
