Many links across the internets (including older Weekly Newsletters) refer to packages as http://packages.gentoo.org/packages/?category=cccccc;name=pppppp (where cccccc is the category (eg "sys-kernel"), and pppppp is the package name (eg "gentoo-sources")). For backwards compatibility, these should redirect to the new format used by Packages2: http://packages.gentoo.org/package/cccccc/pppppp.
No. Please review my posts to the -dev list announcing the new packages site, where I specifically stated that the old dynamic URLs would not be supported for security reasons, and that the old RSS URLs were being forwarded until January 2008 only. I'm going to pass this over to the docs guys, so they can fixup the links in the older GWNs if they haven't already. Also, please don't use BugMeNot, register a real user for yourself, so that we can actually get feedback instead of having a dead account.

So far, it's always been up to those changing the service to make sure old links would land at the right place, see the rewrites on www.g.o or sources.g.o Either add proper rewrites to handle the links from the GWN, fix them yourself, or have the GWN guy(s?) mop up for you. Assigning to wranglers, can't find any gwn bug account
docs-team/GWN: Ok, I'm going to do a fix pass for all of CVS. I see usages of the old URLs in the website documentation as well as the GWNs.

I fixed up all remaining docs and GWN entries.
