When I try to login from gdm, it say me that i've typed an incorrect password. I've tried ten times, with allways the same error. I've also tried to type my password in the login box, to see if my keyboard was well configured, it was well configured. But GDM still won't work. Then I've tried to change my password, suppressing it accents, and that worked. In the log files, there was only "authentification failure". As my password work in a console and in other X applications, i think that the problem is from gdm, but in this case that's strange that noone had seen it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Set a password with accents 2.Try to login with gdm Actual Results: GDM say me that the password is bad Expected Results: It should start KDE as my user
This is probably because GDM sends the password utf-8 encoded whereas your password is stored encoded in the character set belonging to your non-utf-8 locale, that you have set. This is an upstream bug. For now, use passwords without accented characters or another login manager.
not our problem as markus pointed out
