Description Stuart Herbert (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-04-26 11:10:53 UTC
I have an ASUS A7NX8 motherboard, which uses the nVidia nForce-2 chipset.

I noticed that gentoo-sources-2.4.20-r2 (the latest unmasked kernel) does not
include the IDE patches for this chipset. xfs-sources-2.4.20-r3 does.

Any chance of adding this patch to the gentoo-sources kernel? I've had one
IDE panic w/ gentoo-sources-2.40.20-r2 already - I'd like to avoid having many
more.

Thanks,
Stu

no it won't be added to 2.4.20-r2, use gentoo-sources-2.4.20-r3 for nforce1/2 support.

Hi Jay,

I didn't ask for it to be added to gentoo-sources-2.4.20-r2 (sigh). I asked for it to be added to gentoo-sources.

I'm glad to hear that -r3 will include the nVidia IDE patch. -r3 doesn't compile for me yet. Crypto loopback device complains about duplicate symbols. Good luck with fixing it up before it's unmasked.

Best regards,
Stu
