Having applied the http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=197391 workaround, a fair number of packages can be emerged on Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS Release 3 (Taroon Update 5). However, during `emerge -e system' the binutils package fails to be emerged.

The build.log will be attached.

Rabbe,
Thanks for reporting, however, we will need fixes (patches) instead of just reports for this on RHEL3 since none of the prefix devs run RHEL3.

Resolving as CANTFIX, please re-open if you can nail this down. Thanks!
