Description Stefan Behte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev Security 2007-11-19 09:46:39 UTC
I use the following line to mount a share on a windows 2003 SP1 Server:

mount -t cifs //server/blah /mnt/blah -o username=craig,workgroup=FUN,password=abcdef

this worked with 3.0.24-r3 but not with 3.0.26a-r2 and 3.0.27. I have the same problem with two other PCs when mounting a share on a Gentoo Workstation (3.0.27).

I also noticed that 3.0.27 is hard-masked right now?!

Works perfectly fine... You need to post some errors, hard to guess really.
Comment 2 Stefan Behte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev Security 2007-11-20 21:29:16 UTC
mount -t cifs //server/blah /mnt/blah -o username=craig,workgroup=FUN,password=abcdef

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on //server/blah,
       missing codepage or other error
       In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
       dmesg | tail  or so

Well dmesg says:
 CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -22

Did you actually emerge net-fs/mount-cifs?
Comment 4 Stefan Behte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev Security 2007-11-20 22:05:58 UTC
No I didn't.
It's in ~x86 and to be honest, I never heard of it before, I thought it was always bundled with samba.
Comment 5 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-11-20 22:08:03 UTC
<snip>
elog "The mount/umount.cifs helper applications are not included anymore."
elog "Please install net-fs/mount-cifs instead."
</snip>

Marking INVALID because this is not a samba bug.

Please shoot me.
Not.
