Description W. Elschner 2007-11-18 17:09:15 UTC
If kchmviewer is not installed, Virtualbox-Bin does not show any help (there is no reaction when you click on Help -> Content, same with help buttons).

It seems that the VirtualBox online help depends on kchmviewer. This should be added to the virtualbox-bin ebuild as dependency.

Hmmm... just installed kchmviewer, but this did not solve the problem. What makes the Help -> Contents work?
Comment 2 W. Elschner 2007-11-19 13:11:42 UTC
Here is some more information. This is from the ebuild:

rm -rf src sdk tst* rdesktop-vrdp.tar.gz deffiles install.sh routines.sh \
runlevel.sh vboxdrv.sh VBox.sh VBox.png kchmviewer additions VirtualBox.desktop \ VirtualBox.chm VirtualBox.tar.bz2 vboxnet.sh LICENSE VirtualBoxAPI.chm

Looks like the help-files (*.chm) are not installed. Same for the kchmviewer, so no help is available.

My workaround:

Manually copy the *.chm files from the Download-Package into /opt/VirtualBox and create a symlink in /opt/Virtualbox to /usr/bin/kchmviewer (kchmviewer must be installed by emerge kchmviewer).

hi,
thanks for your report, just added a new use flag for this (chm),
when enabled both the chm files and kchmviever are installed.

You can grab the ebuild on jokey's overlay[1]

The ebuild from the overlay works fine here with the new version 1.5.4 and kernel 2.6.24-rc6 (AMD64).

Thanks!

As new version is in CVS now, marking this LATER as it will be fixed once the module goes stable
