Description Leonardo Ferreira Fontenelle 2007-11-18 12:10:25 UTC
GNOME Sudoku crashes when a tracker bookmark is added; according to GNOME people this is because of lack of Numeric in Python(-GTK).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch GNOME Sudoku
2. Start playing it
3. Add a bookmark
4. Crash
Actual Results:
GNOME Sudoku crashes when a tracker bookmark is added

Expected Results:
IMHO GNOME Games ebuild should require the proper dependency to have the "numeric" USE flag.
Comment 1 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-11-18 12:56:50 UTC
emerge --info please. Also, you didn't post any errors at all. Finally you *must* run python-updater after upgrading python; the dependency is already there (and no, there's no USE=numeric).

Thanks for beeing so responsive!

I didn't post it before because it was already in the upstream error report. Anyway, here it is:

Everything here is already updated from Python 2.4 to 2.5.

Forgive my made-up USE flag!...

The dep is there, and unconditional. Something must be wrong with your system. Have you tried running python-updater, as jakub said?
Comment 4 Leonardo Ferreira Fontenelle 2007-11-21 22:58:22 UTC
I did it again, just to be sure. And revdep-rebuild. And re-emerged gnome-games manually. Still have the same issue. What else can I do to help?
Comment 5 Daniel Gryniewicz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-11-29 19:55:19 UTC
Which versions of python do you have?

Okay, so it's not multiple versions of python, which things like this have commonly been.

If you run python from the command line, and type this:

import Numeric

What does it say?

Nothing (apparently successful).
Comment 9 Daniel Gryniewicz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-11-30 00:17:44 UTC
So, you have numeric, and it works in python. Maybe just re-emerge pygtk? I re-read the bug and didn't see you'd done that yet...

Yes, it worked! Thank you, and sorry for all the trouble.
