Does not list Apache 2, though I've been told gentoo 1.4 can support Apache 2.

There is a masked version of apache2 available, just type in

ACCEPT_KEYWORDS=~x86 emerge apache

and apache2 will be installed. Additionally you should set the apache2 use flag.

Not to be pedantic or anything, but this is a website bug. I'm only a potential gentoo user, so your instructions confuse me. Unless I'm missing a textfield somewhere on that site for typing keywords in.

it is not a web site bug -- as the user pointed out, apache2 was masked in gentoo until recently, which means that it wasn't considered a "stable" application.  It has since been unmasked and therefor shows up on the link:
