The eyedropper functionality of colorzilla fails without following the instructions (see URL). Summary: copy libxpcom* from the latest official firefox binary to /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge mozilla-firefox 2. add the colorzilla extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/271) 3. try to use the eyedropper! Actual Results: Failure with an error message dialog. Expected Results: The eyedropper should run without manually copying files from the official binary. I feel like I should provide a patch to fix this, but I've got no experience with modifying ebuilds. My instinct is that this would be very easy to simply do the copy within the ebuild. OTOH, it's kind of interesting that this problem exists... what's so special about the official libxpcom* files? Is this an indication that the colorzilla add-on is overly brittle? Could this be fixed by forcing certain flags from part of the build?
Stuff that's according to the discussion equally broken on Ubuntu and Fedora is apparently not Gentoo-specific bug. Also, we don't really support third-party addons. Report to extension authors, please.
Sorry, but your solution does not work anymore with the new browser versions. (3.0.6 here)
