Description Gabriel Devenyi 2007-11-12 20:45:57 UTC
When starting kpowersave (with dbus and hal correctly started)
ace@cosine ~ $ kpowersave

kpowersave: ERROR: Could not call/set SetPowerSave on HAL, could be a bug in HAL spec

As a result, kpowersave does very little.

It also fails when trying to configure "WARNING: Could not find any schemes".

what hal version are you using?
Comment 2 Gabriel Devenyi 2007-11-12 21:13:06 UTC
sys-apps/hal-0.5.9.1-r3
Comment 3 Stefan Schweizer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-11-12 21:34:20 UTC
are you in the plugdev group? Well, anyways maybe we need to wait for the new hal in portage to have this solved. It works fine for me with the new version.
Comment 4 Gabriel Devenyi 2007-11-12 21:52:06 UTC
I am in the plugdev group, KDE automounting via HAL works fine, perhaps I'll unmask and try the new version.
Comment 5 Gabriel Devenyi 2007-11-19 00:43:45 UTC
Seems the issue is permissions on /usr/share/config perhaps kpowersave should install its configs somewhere else?
Comment 6 Stefan Schweizer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-11-19 10:07:32 UTC
Thanks, I added the following to the ebuild:

pkg_postinst() {
    einfo "Making sure that config directory is readable"
    einfo "chmod 755 ${ROOT}/usr/share/config"
    chmod 755 "${ROOT}/usr/share/config"
}
Comment 7 Allis Tauri 2008-05-11 08:44:59 UTC
The /usr/share/config is world readable and user is in oplugdev group.
HAL version is 0.5.9.1-r3

And still I have the same problem: listed above startup errors, and "Cannot find any schemes" message appearing whenever I try to configure kpowersave. Scheme selection menu doesn't appear at all.

Oh, sorry, my fault =(
I've forgot to update udev and hal configuration files. Shame on me =\
