Via a portage overlay, proftpd-1.3.1_rc2-r3 builds and appears to run cleanly on 2007.0 ia64 with an ia64 keyword.  Tested basic functionality with default config, can grab anonymous files.

Note that the default sample proftpd.conf.sample doesn't work as is, I had to change the default user from 'proftpd' to 'ftp' to get it to start up - but I imagine this should be the case for any platform.
