When I start oowriter the splash screen appears, then the main window disappears and the crashreport is coming up , reporting that the actual file will be recovered on next start. on the console you see "terminate called after throwing an instance of 'berkeleydbproxy::DbException'" Maybe this is the same problem as bug 196928. But oocalc e.g. seems to work, as long as I do not open a text document. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. just start oowriter. if the main window appears, the program crashes emerge --info Portage 2.1.3.19 (default-linux/x86/2007.0/desktop, gcc-4.2.2, glibc-2.7-r0, 2.6.23-gentoo i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.23-gentoo i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz Timestamp of tree: Fri, 09 Nov 2007 19:16:01 +0000 app-shells/bash: 3.2_p17-r1 dev-java/java-config: 1.3.7, 2.1.2-r1 dev-lang/python: 2.4.4-r4, 2.5.1-r3 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r6 sys-apps/baselayout: 1.12.10-r5 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.18.1-r2 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.61-r1 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2, 1.10 sys-devel/binutils: 2.18-r1 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.0-r4 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.24 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.23 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=prescott -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/udev/rules.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=prescott -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="distlocks metadata-transfer sandbox sfperms strict unmerge-orphans userfetch" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://ftp/pub/linux/gentoo ftp://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/mirrors/gentoo ftp://ftp.tu-clausthal.de/pub/linux/gentoo/ ftp://ftp.wh2.tu-dresden.de/pub/mirrors/gentoo" LANG="de_DE.utf8" LC_ALL="de_DE.utf8" LINGUAS="de el en nb nl pl sv uk us" MAKEOPTS="-j4" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --delete-after --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages --filter=H_**/files/digest-*" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://gensync/gentoo-portage" USE="X aac aalib accessibility acl acpi aiglx alsa amarok apache2 arts asf audiofile avahi avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts browserplugin bzip2 cairo calendar cdda cddb cdparanoia cdr cgi cli contactnotes cpudetection cracklib crypt css cups curl cvs dbus device-mapper dga disk-partition divx4linux doc dri dts dvb dvd dvdr dvdread ecc eds emboss encode esd evo exif expat faad fam fame ffmpeg firefox flac fortran ftp g15 gdbm geldkarte gif gimp glitz gphoto2 gpm gstreamer gtk hal hbci httpd iconv icq idea ieee1394 imagemagick imap imlib innodb ipv6 isdnlog ithreads java javascript jpeg jpeg2k kde kerberos ldap lirc lm_sensors logitech-mouse mad midi mikmod mjpeg mmx mng mozcalendar mozilla mp3 mpeg mpeg2 mplayer mudflap musepack musicbrainz mysql ncurses nis nls nptl nptlonly nsplugin ogg oggvorbis on-the-fly-crypt openexr opengl openmp oss pam pcre pcsc-lite pda pdf perl png povray pppd python qt3 qt3support qt4 quicktime rdesktop readline real realplayer reflection rle samba sasl scanner sdl session smartcard smime sndfile spell spl sse sse2 sse3 ssl statistics svg tcltk tcpd tetex texteffect threads tidy tiff transcode truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode usb vcd vcdimager visualization vorbis wifi win32codecs x86 xcomposite xine xinerama xml xml2 xorg xpm xscreensaver xv xvid yahoo zlib" ALSA_CARDS="ali5451 als4000 atiixp atiixp-modem bt87x ca0106 cmipci emu10k1 emu10k1x ens1370 ens1371 es1938 es1968 fm801 hda-intel intel8x0 intel8x0m maestro3 trident usb-audio via82xx via82xx-modem ymfpci" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="adpcm alaw asym copy dmix dshare dsnoop empty extplug file hooks iec958 ioplug ladspa lfloat linear meter mulaw multi null plug rate route share shm softvol" ELIBC="glibc" INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" LINGUAS="de el en nb nl pl sv uk us" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="nv nvidia vesa" Unset: CPPFLAGS, CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, INSTALL_MASK, LDFLAGS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY
Oh, I forgot the version number: I use app-office/openoffice 2.3.0
We really need some debugging output... http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml
Created attachment 135701 [details] backtrace log This is the backtrace log. I recompiled openoffice with the following flags CFLAGS="-march=prescott -O2 -pipe -ggdb" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
Sorry, I forgot to turn stripping off. Just started a new emerge ...
(In reply to comment #4) > Sorry, I forgot to turn stripping off. Just started a new emerge ... Ouch.. :) And please REOPEN the bug once done.
Created attachment 135727 [details] better backtrace log I recompiled openoffice with USE="debug" FEATURES="nostrip" emerge --ask -v openoffice and the following CFLAGS CFLAGS="-march=prescott -O1 -pipe -ggdb" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"
The new backtrace is available. I hope it helps. If someone needs more info, just ask
I has OO-crashes too. I do not know, if I have to close this bug, but for me it is fixed. I decided to remove the .ooo-2.0 directory in my home and all works fine now. I tried the step mentioned in comment 8, but this doesn't help. But thank you for your help.
Thanks for reporting back, closing this.
