Description Randy Burton 2003-04-23 22:17:52 UTC
I'm not absolutely certain what the issue is, but if I try to generate an initrd
using one of the untouched config files from a pristine install of bootsplash,
this is what I get:

[root@syn root]# splash -s -f
/etc/bootsplash/default/config/bootsplash-1280x1024.cfg > testinitrd
syntax error: text_x=256
[root@syn root]#

I'm using gentoo-sources-2.4.20-r2 patched as directed by the tail of the ebuild
and the HOWTO on the forums. I have compiled quite a few kernels before and
have gone back and verified this one several times to eliminate kernel
misconfiguration.

It seems I may be the only person reporting this problem, but...???

Please close. Evidently, an install of splash from late last year did not get cleaned up; I had an older version of splash residing in /bin/splash, which was higher in my $PATH than /sbin/splash, which was the correct executable.

No syntax errors exist, it's all fine now.
