Description Neil 2007-11-09 19:50:18 UTC
skype-2.0.0.13 requires libXss.so.1 which is part of x11-libs/libXScrnSaver

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. cat 'net-im/skype' >> /etc/portage/package.unmask
2. emerge net-im/skype
3. Run skype
4. If x11-libs/libXScrnSaver isn't installed then you get.....

Actual Results:
$ skype
/opt/skype/skype: error while loading shared libraries: libXss.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Expected Results:
skype should start.

x11-libs/libXScrnSaver should be a dependency of >=net-im/skype-2.0.0.13

Forgot to actually mention that emergeing x11-libs/libXScrnSaver does actually resolve the problem and skype starts fine.

Also whilst thinking about skype-2.0.0.13 incorporates video support, so it may be worth considering including media-video/gspca or media-video/gspcav1 as dependencies as these provide support for some (but not all) web-cams. Not sure how that should be handled though as some are supported by the kernel itself.

Can you please post emerge --info as I want to see something? In any case I'll add this dep soon.

Well skype does not need gspca on my system, because my webcam uses another driver ( media-video/linux-uvc ). Also there is no need to have any kind of driver to receive video...

Okay, cool.

Would it be worth having a series of flags for different web-cam drivers? Or is getting hard-ware working outside of the remit of the ebuild? Just thinking whether this would make it easier for people to get their web-cam's working when emerging skype. No problem if its not appropriate.

fixed. Thanks for the report.
