Nothing weird to do with amd64? I have noticed that this also affects portage-2.1.3.16, but not 2.1.3.9.
It works for me here on both x86 and amd64. emerge bash to see if that helps.
That did the trick. Shouldn't that be picked up by revdep-rebuild? (I ran this when I first encountered the problem, and it didn't fix it)
revdep-rebuild only picks up binaries broken by a soname change in a library that they depend on. It's unlikely that's what this was.
