Description James Ward 2007-11-08 16:30:47 UTC
nm-applet should have a menu that allows me to setup a ppp connection. For some reason that menu doesn't show up.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install the latest nm-applet & networkmanager
2. Click on the nm-applet icon
Actual Results:
There is no dialup configuration / connection menu.

Expected Results:
I should be able to setup a dialup connection and connect to that dialup network.

Not gnome.

The Gentoo backend does not support ppp connections, patches welcome.

Is it acceptable to call /etc/net.ppp* from the nm-backend to take the ppp interface up and down? Or would it be better to parse the connection information in /etc/conf.d/net and start up pppd directly?

Obviously, I meant /etc/init.d/net.ppp*

The way 0.6.5 and 0.6.6 do it, I would say "maybe" - the proper way is the way that 0.7 is doing it. Unfortunately, I have just had almost no free time to do anything Gentoo, or FOSS in general related recently - Thank you for the email Steve to remind me about this bug. I am glad you are willing to work on this (unfortunately, I don't have any type of dialup access available to me anymore)

Is this bug still relevant? 0.7.x is in the tree now and support ppp connections.
